Manhole Lifts on Canvas
he past couple of years I’ve been working on a new and exciting idea that for me has turned into something visually rewarding and inspiring. My artwork is pastel on canvas. I turn graphically and historically interesting manholes that we walk over everyday into a piece of colorful and creative artwork.
I’ve been doing my lifts (or rubbings) all around the Pittsburgh area and plan to continue finding new manholes in culturally rich and historic areas. My hopes are that this project will lead to communities next door and maybe to communities across the world.
